HAWE Hydraulik SE, Munich, has developed a new braking module for hydraulically operated rotor brakes in wind energy plants. The module uses a CLK type 3-way pressure control valve that integrates the pressure control and safety valve function all in one. Both functions are now be overseen by one valve alone. The braking module is also suitable for small wind energy plants of up to 30 kW.
HAWE Hydraulik is providing all-round hydraulic controls for the rotor brake with compact hydraulic power packs supplying pressure oil to the control. The braking module is mounted directly on to the power pack. The pressure control valve was designed for operating pressures of up to 380 bar and a pump pressure of up to 500 bar and volume flows up to 22 l/min. Another advantage of this valve is its zero-leakage in blocked position. This way the operating pressure is safely maintained and the rotor is reliably decelerated.
In keeping with the safety stipulations of Germanischer Lloyd, the hydraulic power pack must be capable of constantly maintaining the operating pressure for a minimum of at least six hours and up to seven days, should such pressure be required for the actuation of an active brake. With its compact hydraulic power packs and zero-leakage directional seated valves, such as its CLK type HAWE Hydraulik has proven to meet these requirements.
