AMB 2010: Compact hydraulic power pack cuts down on energy- and space-requirement

The KA compact hydraulic power pack is ideally suited for supplying pressure oil in machine tools. HAWE Hydraulik SE, Munich, is presenting a new size of the power pack at the AMB 2010 (September 28 - October 2, 2010).

Like all power packs from HAWE Hydraulik, the KA 4 is also made up of a pump, a tank and an integrated submerged motor. When fitted with a radial piston pump it can generate operating pressures of up to 700 bar, while a gear pump will achieve a maximum of 200 bar. A dual-flow pump is used in the event that the pump has to supply consumers with different pressure levels. The new size can generate a maximum volume flow of 19.9 lpm. The tank volume can be increased from five to 25 liters, depending on the tank extensions.

Installing the motor submerged in the oil cuts its size down significantly from that of an air-cooled motor. Compared with the conventional motors' rated performance of up to 7 kW, the KA 4 can make do with a rated motor output of up to 3 kW. In addition, if the power pack is combined with 8-Watt technology valves from HAWE Hydraulik the power uptake of the hydraulic solu-tion can be cut down still further.

The KA type was developed for short term and intermittent service. Fitted with the optional external ventilator it can also be used for continuous operation in specific applications. If required, the external ventilator can be retrofitted at a latter point in time.

Connecting blocks and valve banks to the power pack is straightforward. Thanks to the modular construction kit system the individual hydraulic components are easily turned into a full-sized system control. As all pressurized parts are made from steel, the components excel with their compact design and little space requirement. The submerged installation of the motor also cuts down on the dimensions of the power pack's housing. Despite the steel used the weight is comparatively low. Type KA 4 can be mounted both vertically or horizontally.

A silica gel filter is available for the vertical variant, which takes out the moisture of the air inflow into the power pack.
